Non Stick Skillet VS Traditional Skillet

Non Stick Skillet is a substitute for traditional skillets. Non Stick Skillet is a great new cooking tool which is now available in market. Non Stick Skillet is made of Teflon coated aluminum which is a better option than stick of butter. It is a better option because it prevents sticking of pans and food while cooking. The heat distribution in non stick skillet is also better and there is no need to double-check for perfect even heating.

There are several types of non stick material but Teflon coated aluminum is the best. Teflon is a compound that consists of numerous layers of metal salts coating the non stick surface. These layers offer the basic protection from heat. But Teflon is not only an excellent coating, it also works as a preservative.

Skillets can last long if they are well taken care of. There are certain basic steps that should be followed while cooking with this equipment. You can also avoid food sticking on the skillet and prolong the life of the pan by cleaning and wiping it regularly after cooking. Heat sealers are also used for reducing stickiness of pans. However, heat sealers can reduce the overall temperature of the cooking vessel.

Avoid placing hot pot or pan on a counter or table. Cooked food releases its natural flavors and oils which can be harmful for health if ingested. Skillets can get stuck in between the foods or in the corners of the pan after being cooked. So while cooking on stove switch off the fire as soon as possible and clean the cooking vessel using soap and water.

Before cooking on skillets, select small portion of food at a time and transfer it to the skillet. Remove the food from the heat source slowly. Leaving food on the heat source for longer period can cause the food to stick. The longer food is left on the heat source, the more sticky it becomes.

While cooking with skillet, ensure to stir the food very well so that it doesn’t stick on the skillet. Skillet comes in different sizes and models. Hence, you need to choose one according to the size of your cooking vessel. If you buy a non stick skillet made of heavy gauge cast iron, then it will be heavier, so be careful while using.

Turn the heat on medium and when it gets to glow, flip the skillet. Turn it once again and continue to flip until the underside is shiny. Once it is done, you can remove it from the heat. Let the skillet cool and then wipe it with a piece of kitchen towel or kitchen paper. This will keep the skillet free from food particles and will prevent it from getting spoiled.

Store your skillet in an airtight container. This will prolong its life and prevent it from getting rusty. Don’t let it get wet due to the rust. Keep it dry by leaving it out in the sun for a few hours every day. You can also place it under the sun for a few hours if you have already cooked your food.

If you find that your skillet has become sticky when you touch it, you can boil some water to soften it. Then wash it under running water until it is thoroughly clean. Once you are done cleaning, dry it with a clean cloth. Repeat the process if necessary.

Avoid placing hot spits or pots on the skillet. They will stick to the non stick surface. Cook your meals on a cold griddle using ceramic or glass bowls instead of frying pans. Don’t place boiling liquids or acidic liquids into the skillet. These can cause the surface to change color, thereby affecting the quality of the cooking.

When cooking on the stove top, don’t put oil or butter on the bottom. These ingredients will splatter and make a mess. Also, make sure not to place hot pot on the middle of the burner. The oil can easily scorch the cookware. Keep in mind these basic rules while cooking and also take care to follow safety precautions.

The only way to make your cooking easier is by avoiding the accidents that commonly happen during kitchenry tasks. You should be extra careful when turning on the stove top. Always read the instructions on the product box. If there’s any question, don’t hesitate to contact the manufacturer. Now you know how to take care of your non stick skillet, start cooking your favorite recipes.
